Ex-captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has made a comeback for Pakistan as senior professional, Azhar Ali retired against England. Babar Azam has scored a century on Day 1 and put on 196 runs against Sarfaraz Ahmed (86) for Pakistan to end up 317/5.
Babar Azam (161) got out in the first over on Day 2. Agha Salman formed strike with Nauman Ali 7(75), Mohammad Wasim (2), Mir Hamza 1(15) and he scored 103 runs off 155 balls. Pakistan scored 438 runs in 130.5 overs. Neil Wagner (1/66), Michael Bracewell (2/72), Ish Sodhi (2/87), Ajaz Patel (2/112) and Tim Southee (3/69) took wickets for New Zealand.
Tom Latham and Devon Conway opened for New Zealand and Pakistan bowlers failed to take a wicket. Both the Openers stayed at the crease undefeated for the entire Day 2 and they will start Day 3. New Zealand are on 165/0 and Tom Latham is on 78(126), Devon Conway is on 82(156). Pakistan had to bring on Babar Azam in the 47 overs they have bowled. If New Zealand continue to pile on with Kane Williamson, Henry Nicholls, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell to bat still on Day 3 pitch, Pakistan will have to suffer hard to even force for a draw.
