Manjummel Boys has become a huge blockbuster for Malayalam Cinema. It has collected a huge Rs.250 crores gross with South Indian markets performing at their best. Movie has created huge sensation in Tamil Nadu and performed well in AP and Telangana states. Even in Overseas markets, film has collected record grosses for any Malayalam Cinema.
Now, the highest grosser ever in Malayalam Cinema has fallen into a legal pickle. While no one complained about the film or its content, Manjummel Boys producers have been accused of cheating by investor Siraj Valiyathara of Aroor. He has moved to Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court alleging that producers have not returned his amount.
He stated that he invested Rs.7 crores in the project with an assurance of 40% of profits from the collections. He stated in the petition that he did not receive any amount in return not even the amount he invested. While he has been asking Manjummel Boys to pay up, they have been giving repeated assurances but he did not receive any amount in return.
Court has ordered the police to investigate into the cheating and conspiracy allegations by Siraj. After listening to the petitioner’s plea and arguments, Court has stated that a thorough investigation is mandatory in this case. Even the lead actor Shoubin Shahir is one of the producers and we have to wait for his reply.
