School of Advanced Sciences (SAS) at VIT-AP University
The school of advanced sciences was established in 2017 at VIT-AP University. Currently, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry departments constitute the school. We have about 114 excellent faculty backed by a wealth of research and teaching experience from premier Indian Institutes and Universities of International repute.
We have excellent infrastructure for teaching, library and computational facilities in conjunction with research labs hosting a range of advanced scientific instruments. The teaching and learning process at VIT-AP is carefully crafted and mellifluously executed with the moto of “Apply Knowledge. Improve life!” to transform students into a work force of competent and responsible global citizens. In a short span of six years, VIT-AP has earned the reputation as ‘the number one emerging private University of the country’ as published by Outlook ranking in 2023.
Department of Mathematics
The department of Mathematics offers Undergraduate and Master’s degree programs in Data Science.

BSc (Data Science)
Eligibility
• Intermediate with mathematics as a subject or Plus Two, with a minimum aggregate of 55%. The students can opt for a 3-year BSc degree or a 4-year BSc Honours degree in Data Science.

• BSc Data Science students of VIT-AP can continue for a 2-year MSc degree straight after BSc.
MSc (Data Science)
• BSc or BA graduates from other colleges with Computer Science or Statistics or Mathematics as a major and BTech Computer Science graduates, with a minimum of 60% aggregate.

The curriculum for Data Science programs are designed to be a rigorous blend of applied mathematics, statistics and computer science with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence and machine learning to impart knowledge and skills required to address modern-day challenges in highly demanding and rapidly growing domains such as E-commerce, Business analytics, Medical imaging, Machine learning, Augmented reality, Artificial intelligence systems, Pharmaceuticals, Genomics and Energy sectors. All programs are enriched with industrial internships during their final semester. Over 70% of our Data Science students secured jobs in reputed MNC such as TCS, CTS, EY INDIA and LATENT VIEW.

• Rs 25,000 per month for the first year and 31,000 per month for the next two years during the 3-years PhD research.
Currently 75 research scholars work in major research domains including Computational fluid dynamics, Graph theory, Optimization, Approximation theory, Non-linear dynamics and Cosmology.

Department of Physics offers MSc program with specializations in General Physics and Energy Science and Technology.

In conjunction with the core classical subjects of Physics that form a formidable ground to be a Physicist, Energy Science and Technology specialization includes an in depth coverage of advanced level topics on theoretical and experimental fronts of modern-day battery science and technology, hydrogen fuel cell-based energy technologies and solar energy technologies to cater skilled work force with potential employability in electric vehicle manufacturing companies, battery industries, solar panel industries, hydrogen energy research and development firms and advanced materials and manufacturing industries.
Training on a range of material synthesis techniques, advanced analytical characterization techniques, sophisticated instruments and computational tools is integral to this program. Large majority of our students achieved fully funded international PhD research studentships in highly reputed Universities abroad. We offer industrial internships as part of our final semester project work with our industrial collaborators (eg: QpiAI, India Pvt. Ltd., NoPo Nanotechnologies, etc.), training for GATE and CSIR exams and placement assistance. Our MSc graduates will be given priority in PhD admissions within the Physics department.

External funded projects worth about 1.5 crores are ongoing.

Department of Chemistry
Department of Chemistry offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. Programmes. The two-year M.Sc. Chemistry in collaboration with Mitsui Kinzoku Components India (MKCI) Pvt. Ltd. offered by VIT-AP University provides students ample opportunities to choose courses from a broad spectrum of cutting-edge areas in addition to fundamentals of organic, inorganic, physical, analytical and computational chemistry. Sessions on improving technical skills, scientific writing, oral presentations and research expertise have been incorporated in the curriculum.
Furthermore, the students will have the scope to pursue their master’s thesis work at various national and international institutions and industries. Overall, through an approach of integrating the in-depth core and elective courses, and research work, instructed and guided by highly qualified and well experienced faculty members, students will gain the foundation and skill in advancing their career in higher studies as well as in industry.
