IPL 2024: GT manages to win with great difficulty

GT manages to win against PBKS with great difficulty

GT have been able to win the IPL trophy in their first season and reach final in their second season. But with all the transfer drama around captain Hardik Pandya, GT have been struggling in this season, to repeat same level of proficient performance in IPL 2024. Still, they have managed to win against PBKS with great difficulty in a relatively low scoring match.

Earlier, PBKS won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Prabhsimran Singh(35), Sam Curran(20) gave a 52-run start but did not find other batters coming to the party as they anticipated. Only Harpreet Brar’s 29 runs from 12 balls helped them score 142 in their 20 overs. Sai Kishore(4/33) did not allow PBKS middle-order come to the party like in other matches.

In a relatively simple chase, GT did not find it easy to score freely. Shubman Gill(35) looked set but he fell at a crucial moment. Sai Sudharsan tried to keep the score board moving but only scored 31 runs from 34 balls. At the moment, the team needed 40 runs to win from 28 balls and it looked rather difficult for them to score as well.
