ICC T20 World Cup is going on in an unexpected way as every regular big team has been either defeated or made to sweat by Associate Nations. AB de Villiers, the South African legend, predicted that India and New Zealand will go to Finals of the World Cup. India is playing against England and New Zealand is playing Pakistan in Semi-Finals. AB de Villiers has been one of the greats of Indian Premiere League as well and he is loved by Indian fans to the level of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma.
By being regular fixture of Royal Challengers Bangalore, he has exhibited his 360 degree play at crucial junctures. Hence, some expected him to choose India among the four out of his connection. But AB de Villiers expressed his disappointment for South Africa being eliminated early.
He then explained that India, New Zealand looked like two teams that have great balance. AB de Villiers said that he feels Pakistan can be unpredictable but they have a temperament that will push them to be highly nervous on the D-day and New Zealand knows how to handle the pressure has they have been in knock-outs in recent past.
AB de Villiers also stated that England in this tournament have been dependent on Openers Alex Hales and Jos Butler to give them great start and Middle order is looking weak. He also opined that Indian bowlers have more expertise in swinging ball on Australian pitches will be more than handful for both the openers. Also, IPL experience will help bowlers to know where to bowl to Jos Butler, Ben Stokes and more of the English batsmen. AB de Villiers also expected Virat Kohli to play a big part in the Semi-Final as it is happening at his happy hunting ground, Adelaide Oval.
But a bad news to India or Cricket fans is that Melbourne Final is expected to be interrupted by rain on both the days – on the D-day and reserve day too. Hope, it won’t be India vs New Zealand repeat from Semi-Final of 2019 Cricket World Cup. Let’s see if AB de Villiers prediction, comes true. India will play England at Adelaide Oval on 10th November, 2022.
