Union Government has given reply to a RTI question about Polavaram project. Ramesh Chandravarma filed this question about reimbursement of funds in construction of Polavaram. Union Government in their answer stated that they have to release only Rs.1,249 crores funds as reimbursement. They stated that Rs.13,463 crores have been released in between 2014-2023 time period, as constructing cost of the project. Union Government numbers did not match with AP Government numbers.
AP Government has stated that Union Government has to still release Rs.2,600 crores. Union Government has stated that they will only reimburse irrigation water component costs. They also stated that till component 1st April, 2014 only they will consider for reimbursement. The revised cost of the project is stated to be Rs.20,398.61 crores.
Union Government has stated that they have to reimburse Rs.15,667.90 crores, only. AP Government has already spent Rs.4,730.71 crores by that time. As Union Government did not register as National Project, by then, they don’t have to reimburse this amount. Till 31st March 2023, Union Government reimbursed Rs.14,418.39 crores. So they have to now only reimburse Rs.1,249 crores. AP Government stated that they will try to get rid of the confusion regarding funds reimbursement of Polavaram project in coming days.
