Malli Pelli Rating: 2/5
Malli Pelli film is directed by producer MS Raju after his recent films. The movie is said to be inspired by media courage that Naresh and Pavitra Lokesh relationship got. Malli Pelli is basically an autobiography of Naresh VK and to an extent biography of Pavitra Lokesh. It is a daring attempt on their part to give a context to news stories. Can Malli Pelli give an objective look into the situation? Let’s discuss.
Malli Pelli Plot:
Malli Pelli is an autobiographical movie based on true life events of Naresh and Pavitra Lokesh. Names have been changed by makers. Narendra(Naresh) is a senior actor and a legend of Telugu Cinema. He meets Parvati(Pavitra Lokesh) on the sets of an on-going film. Narendra likes her instantly. Parvati respects him as a senior co-actor. Narendra falls in love with her but hesitates to open that topic. Parvati takes their relation as friendship and Malli Pelli takes a dive into their past.
Narendra is almost honey-trapped by his present wife, Soumya Sethupathi(Vanitha Vijaykumar). She was an assistant director of Narendra’s mother Vimala(Jayasudha) and while he is struggling in his career, she gets close to him. After 11 years, Narendra thinks about Malli Pelli, another marriage. Soumya Sethupathi tries to destroy his image and their relationship while Narendra looks to hide their relationship to not be tarnished by media. Watch Malli Pelli for how they will come out of this mess!

Malli Pelli Analysis:
Malli Pelli is made by the filmmakers to state facts about a real-life couple. Taking inspiration from news stories or trying to give a context to what is shown in the media, and make it a film, takes guts and conviction. Naresh VK produced the movie and it is obvious that it will be a one-sided take. Naresh and Pavitra Lokesh have put forth their side of the story in this film. But the conviction in bringing story of both the sides and trying to find a middle ground is missing. Malli Pelli tries hard to make us feel for the main characters but it lacks seriousness to execute the emotions as they needed to be.
Cinematography and Editing doesn’t work as well. Malli Pelli suffers with every craft failing to deliver. Director MS Raju failed to bring the objectivity to the story and proceedings. A film like Sanju showcased how it can engage us even with one-sided take by trying to add layers to other characters and their actions. Malli Pelli fails to engage us througout while the attempt is laudable.
Malli Pelli Positives:
Naresh Performance
Few emotional scenes
Fearlessness to state some facts
Malli Pelli Negatives:
Cringey Dialogues
One-sided Narration
Amateurish Screenplay
Disengaging Execution
Malli Pelli Bottom-line: Amateurish Autobiography!
