Tomato ketchup is originally a condiment rich in sodium, sugar and corn starch -unhealthy elements that nullify the possible benefits of tomatoes. It finds a special place on the kitchen counter of all and of course the hearts as well, especially the French Fries lover. Little do people realize that how it could send blood sugar, blood pressure and body fat levels spiraling.

You would be surprised to know that tomato ketchup can be easily made at home that too which is way healthier than the market method by choosing the right ingredients. When trying to make tomato ketchup at home, it is important to choose ingredients that are healthier than those used in store-bought variety.
- 1/2 kg tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp onion powder,
- 5-6 garlic cloves,
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar,
- 1/2 beetroot,
- salt to taste,
- 2 tbsp palm jaggery,
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp red chilli powder.
To make this healthy sauce, put a large pan on medium flame and add extra virgin olive oil to it. Add chopped tomatoes along with beetroot, and a little water. Stir and cook until the beetroot is mushy and half-cooked. Turn off the flame and add the cooked tomatoes to a jar. Add all the remaining ingredients to the jar and blend them well with some more oil and a little water. Blend until a fine sauce is obtained. Once done, pass it through the sieve and enjoy it with fried foods such as Pakoras, Sandwiches and even Paratha.
