Stock Markets Update: Indices start May with gains

Stock Markets started May on a positive note

Stock Markets started the first session of May post May da holiday with considerable gains on 02nd May, 2024. Investors have taken positive inference from record GST returns and Trimester results. Despite International Stock Markets ending with mixed results, indices registered gains while they oscillated throughout. At the end, BSE gained 128.33 points to close at 74,611.11 and Nifty gained 43.35 points to close at 22,648.20 mark.

BSE Sensex started trading at 74,391.73 and then continued to trade between 74,360.69 – 74,812.43. While index started above the previous closing, it took major hit as Kotak Mahindra Bank stock fell by 4% at one stage. KVS Manian’s resignation has effected this fall and at the end it did recover. Due to other big stocks performing better, BSE ended the trading session at 74,611.11 by gaining 128.33 points.

Nifty Sensex started trading at 22,567.85 mark and it hit its highest for the day at 22,710.50. Nifty50 hit the lowest at 22,567.85. Auto, Metal, Oil and Gas, Power sector shares have attracted investors highly and this helped NSE maintain gains even though it oscillated throughout the session. Finally, Nifty50 ended by gaining 43.35 points on 22,648.20.

Indian Rupee traded at Rs.83.46 against US Dollar on 02nd May 2024. Powergrid Corporation, Asian Paints, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, NTPC shares have ended up as Top Gainers. Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharati Airtel, Axis Bank, Wipro, ICICI Bank shares have ended with huge losses as Top Losers. Interestingly, Stock Markets still maintained gains after Banking and Reality sectors took a huge hit.
