IPL 2024: Suryakumar Yadav’s century gives MI victory over SRH

Suryakumar Yadav scores a century to give MI a win against SRH

MI have found it hard to win games this season, IPL 2024. They have been trailing at the bottom of the table and lost even those games they should have won. Suryakumar Yadav became saviour for them once again at Wankhede and chased down a relatively smaller target than their previous one. SRH scored 277 in that match but they could not repeat same this time.

Earlier, MI won the toss and elected to field first. Travis Head(48) did well but Jasprit Bumrah frustrated and prized young Abhishek Sharma(11) ending his struggle. Mayank Agarwal(5) failed again. Nitish Kumar Reddy(20) tried but fell to Hardik Pandya. Mumbai captain sent back dangerous Marco Jansen(17) and Shahbaz Ahmed(10) as well.

Heinrich Klaasen(2), Head and Abdul Samad(3) got out to wily fox Piyush Chawla. Pat Cummins(35) saved SRH from embarrassingly low score and took them to on par 173/8. MI failed to chase down even lower score against KKR. But this time around, No.1 T20 batter, SKY aka Suryakumar Yadav took care of the chase for MI.

After top 3 failed again, he mixed caution with aggression to score another century in chase that too in Wankhede. He and Tilak Varma wethered the storm of Pat Cummins and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to build a partnership and took MI to winning shores with a partnership of 143 runs for undefeated 4th wicket.

Suryakumar Yadav scored 102 runs from 51 balls with a last ball sixer. Tilak Varma played second fiddle with 37 runs from 32 balls. Well, even though SRH bowlers did try to tighten things they got carried away by swing and early wickets. They got caught up in SKY storm after he counter attacked and paced the innings in his typical style. SRH remains on 12 giving CSK and LSG equal opportunities to qualify.
