KKR has struggled to defend 260 runs against PBKS but they have defended small total against MI in IPL 2024. On 5th May, they have been able to register a huge win against LSG in Lucknow. Sunil Narine has been able to give them a huge start and this helped KKR post 235 runs on board. And bowling unit has come together to give him a huge win by 98 runs.
Earlier, LSG won the toss and elected to field first. Phil Salt(32) and Sunil Narine have once again given an aggressive start to the innings. They scored 61 runs from just 4.2 overs. After Salt got out, Narine started taking Lucknow bowlers to shreds and he had put on 79-run partnership with Angkrish Raghuvanshi for second wicket. Narine fell after scoring 81 runs from 39 balls.
Rest of the KKR batters struggled to score as freely as he did. Angkrish Raghuvanshi(32), Shreyas Iyer(23) looked good but Ramandeep Singh scored 25 runs from 6 balls to push KKR score to 235/6 in 20 overs. Naveen-ul-Haq(3/49) took most wickets for LSG and Ravi Bishnoi(1/33) did well. This batting innings has put LSG out of the contest with such a huge score.
In the chase, LSG never looked like chasing this massive target down. KL Rahul(25), Marcus Stoinis(36) tried to give a good start but they could not really set the stage on fire in the powerplay. Rest of the batters could not give the innings any kind of momentum. Varun Chakravarthy(3/30), Harshit Rana(3/24), Andre Russell(2/17), Sunil Narine(1/22) never let LSG batters settle down at the crease.
LSG got all-out for 137 in 235 chase and KKR posted a mammoth 98 runs win. With this win, they moved to Top position on the table pushing RR down for the first time in this season. With the huge NRR boost, they would be looking to consolidate their place among TOP 2 as with 16 points, they have confirmed qualification to IPL playoffs.
