Indian cricketer and modern day Legend, Virat Kohli form has been a huge concern for his fans and Indian Cricket Team. He came back to form with a huge century in the recently concluded Asia Cup match against Afghanistan.

Virat Kohli opened the innings along with KL Rahul in the match and scored his 71st century after 1025 days of drought. He made 122 not out in 61 balls. Now, the experts are saying it would be best to open with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in Cricket World Cup, due to start next month in Australia. Otherwise Rohit should play in middle order as Rahul likes to open, say the experts.

They reason that bouncing pitches in Australia would need an expert in handling bouncing ball and Rohit, Rahul have shown great strength. If Rahul Dravid, the head coach also feels the same, Indian team management could try to convince Rahul to bat in middle order as middle order seemed to be weak and under pressure in the Asia Cup, especially against Sri Lanka, while setting a target.

Adding to all the woes, absence of Ravindra Jadeja will also make a strong case for inclusion of Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant in the final XI, which Rohit Sharma did not feel comfortable about during the Asia Cup. To give Hardik Pandya, Pant and DK support, Rahul or Rohit coming at No.5 would be best option feel experts.

The ideal batting line-up according to them is Virat Kohli, Rahul or Rohit Sharma as openers with Suryakumar Yadav at No.3 and Rishabh Pant as No.4. Rahul or Rohit at No.5 and Hardik Pandya at No.6, Dinesh Karthik at No.7 as finisher. Ashwin or Axar Patel and Harshal Patel at No.8, No.9. Bumrah, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar/Chahal to follow them in Australia on bouncing conditions.

As the bounce on the pitches would be much higher and livelier than Indian or UAE pitches, Rahul or Rohit who can handle the bouncing balls better would be best option in the middle order which lacks form or experience in finishing off the innings. This move will also give a chance for playing with 5 full-time bowlers with an extra batsman in the middle order than going for Deepak Hooda, an uncertain option.

Well, this seems logical if you think about the pitches and conditions in Australia. For Indian or UAE pitches slow spinners of Hooda would have been helpful but on Australian pitches, he might come under huge scanner.

Yuzvendra Chahal could be included ahead of Ashwin as preferred spinner but how much does the pitches offer to spinners has to be seen for the inclusion of another option. All in all, to include another bowler or another specialist batsman, it seems better to ask Virat Kohli to open and he seems to like it too. Do you think, Virat Kohli should open in CWC?
