SRH have been dependent on their openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma in this season, IPL 2024. The both big bashers have been bashing opponent teams out of competition within the powerplay. SRH have been able to look at putting 100 runs on board consistently when they both come good in just powerplay overs. This jaggernaut has hit LSG to win a game for SRH in 9.4 overs.
Earlier, LSG have won the toss and elected to bat first. Looking at SRH chasing history this season, this choice looked ideal. But LSG found themselves wanting with scoring like they are playing an ODI rather than a T20. Captain KL Rahul failed to set the tone by scoring only 29 runs from 33 balls. Krunal Pandya also scored 24 runs from 21 balls. Hence, LSG looked in trouble scoring only 60 in their first ten overs.
Ayush Badoni(55) and Nicholas Pooran(48) with a 99-run partnership in next 8.4 overs, rescued LSG from putting a forgettable score. Due to their partnership, LSG have been able to put on 165/4 on board with great difficulty. Pitch looked very slow and troublesome while they batted. Bhuvneshwar Kumar stood out by not conceding boundaries, twos or threes and he ended with 2/12 from 4 overs.
In the chase, Travis Head started off by scoring a flourish of boundaries and sixes in the first over. Abhishek Sharma also joined him. Head scored 89 runs from 30 balls and Sharma scored 75 runs from 28 balls. LSG did not know what had hit them and the opening hurricane has consumed them without any traces. This destruction might have ended LSG’s confidence while boosted SRH to new highs.
