Ananya Surapaneni : The Young Star Bringing Kuchipudi to the World Stage

Ananya Surapaneni was born in Kuwait to an Indian family and started learning the classical Kuchipudi dance when she was just seven years old. She learned the basics from her first teacher, Smt. Vedavalli Challa, who taught her the traditional rules and discipline of the art. Later, she beautifully improved her dance movements and expressions with the help of her advanced teacher, Sri Madhavapeddi Murthy.

She has performed on many famous stages and in temples across India, winning praise from senior artists and dance lovers. A major highlight of her journey was performing a solo dance at the Embassy of India in Kuwait. She is the only young artist to get this special chance, and her performance was highly praised by the Indian Ambassador and other important guests. She received excellent guidance for this big event from her mentors, Sri M. Surendra Nadh and Smt. Bijina Surendra.

Besides her passion for dance, Ananya is also very focused on her education. She is currently studying for a B.Sc. in Life Sciences at St. Mary’s College, doing a great job of balancing her college studies with her dance practice. With the blessings of her teachers and her own hard work, she continues to perform and keep the beautiful tradition of Kuchipudi alive.
