India Women and Australia Women have been playing Test, ODIs and T20Is as part of Australia Women tour in India. Indian Women won the only Test but they lost ODIs 3-0. But they started T20Is with a big victory. Bowler Titas Sadhu ran through the batting line-up of Aus and that lead to India registering a big win.
Titas Sadhu removed Beth Mooney(17), Tahlia McGrath(0), Ashleigh Gardner(0), early. From 28/1, Australia have been restricted to 33/4 by Indian bowlers. Ellyse Perry(37) and Phoebe Litchfield(49) came together and put on a partnership of 79 runs. But before they can damage winning chances for India, bowlers again got better of Aus batters. Hence, Aus ended up scoring 141 runs from 19.2 overs.
In the chase, Indian openers did not give Aus bowlers any chance to make early inroads. In fact, they dictated the lengths for bowlers. Smriti Mandhana scored 54 runs from 52 balls. Shafali Verma scored 64 runs from 44 balls. They both have put on 137 runs partnership in 15.2 overs. Smriti Mandhana got out before finishing the innings.
India Women scored 145/1 in 17.4 overs and won the match by 9 wickets remaining. Titas Sadhu won the Player of the Match award by taking 4 wickets for 17 runs from 4 overs. Deepti Sharma(2/24) and Shreyanka Patil(2/19) helped her in restricting Aussies. Now, India Women will be looking to win the T20I series.
