In Colombo, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan have decided to play the only Test. SL won the toss and elected to field first. Rahmat Shah(91) tried to steer Afghanistan innings to a respectable score but still they got bundled out for 198 runs. Vishwa Fernando(4/51), Asitha Fernando(3/24) and Prabath Jayasuriya(3/67) took wickets for Sri Lanka.
In reply, Sri Lanka opener Dimuth Karunaratne(77) gave them an aggressive start along with Nishan Madushka(37). Post their partnership, Angelo Mathews scored 141 runs from 259 balls and Dinesh Chandimal also scored 107 runs from 181 balls. With their centuries, they have put on 232-run partnership and took SL score over 400. SL ended scored 439 runs from 109.2 overs.
Afghanistan had to score more than 400 runs in the second innings to put SL under pressure. With the help of Ibrahim Zadran’s century, 114 runs from 259 balls, they have managed to score 296 runs from 112.3 overs. Noor Ali Zadran(47) and Rahmat Shah (54) helped Ibrahim in putting up good partnerships.
But Prabath Jayasuriya(5/107) did not let lower middle-order and tail enders push the score over 350. Asitha Fernando(3/63) and Kasun Rajitha(2/59) helped Jayasuriya in bowling efforts. Sri Lanka scored required 56 runs to win in just 7.2 overs and won the Test by 10 wickets. Prabath Jayasuriya has been given Player of the Match award.
