After Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an impressive double century, Jasprit Bumrah has helped India get a huge 143 runs lead. England did not allow India to run away with the match as James Anderson dismissed Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal on the third Day Morning. Shubman Gill rode his luck and came into his own and scored much needed century for his career and Indian second innings.
He scored 104 runs from 147 balls with his aggressive approach. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer has given him a good stand with 29(52). After him, only Axar Patel gave him support with 45(84). But Ravichandran Ashwin and other tail enders have been slightly passive than aggressive. India ended up scoring 255 from 78.3 overs in the second innings.
England needed to score 399 runs to win the second Test. Ravichandran Ashwin removed Ben Duckett(28) who was looking dangerous. Rehan Ahmed(23), Ollie Pope(23), Joe Root(16) eveyone tried to be over aggressive and Zak Crawley(73) looked even more dangerous. Spinners kept removing them at regular intervals. Jaspirt Bumrah pushed England to 194/6 by taking Jonny Bairstow’s wicket.
Shreyas Iyer came good by running out Ben Stokes(11) in the field. Ben Foakes(36), Tom Hartley(36) threatened India yet again. Bumrah broke the partnership by foxing Foakes and Mukesh dismissed Bashir. Bumrah ended England innings by dismissing Hartley. And India won the match by 106 runs. Ashwin has to now wait for Rajkot Test to claim his 500th wicket.
Jasprit Bumrah with his 6/45 and 3/46 gave India necessary breakthroughs when team needed, foxing English batters. Hence, he became Player of the Match. Even James Anderson proved that he is great when ball is swinging anywhere around the world. His delivery to Rohit Sharma and Bumrah’s delivery to Ollie Pope are biggest highlights of this Test!
