Kane Williamson has been hailed as one of the all-time greats of Cricket. As a batsman, he has been the backbone of New Zealand batting line-up in all formats. His consistency has been the key for the success of Black Caps and around him, NZ saw various talents flourishing as well. Now, Kane Williamson has achieved another rare feat by scoring hundreds in both the innings of a Test Match. He absorbed pressure against an inexperienced but skillful South African attack in the first innings and on contrary, attacked the same bowlers in the second innings to push the scoring rate at a rate of knots.

While in the first innings, he showcased his patience to weather off a storm and play second fiddle to an exceptional young talent like Rachin Ravindra, he took charge while Opener Devon Conway is struggling to push the rate. This contrast in approach and ability to shift gears according to the situation has been his USP and he once again proved his mettle.

He became the fifth New Zealander to score two centuries in same Test in both the innings and overall 92nd Test batter. Before him, Glenn M Turner(101, 110), Geoffrey P Howarth(122. 102), Andrew H Jones(122, 100) and Peter Fulton(136, 110) have achieved this feat. Kane Williamson scored 118 runs from 289 balls in the first innings and he scored 109 runs from 132 balls in the second innings.

With these two centuries, he has completed 31 Test centuries in his career. Only 12 other batters have scored more than him and if he keeps up this form and fluency in scoring runs.

New Zealand on the back of his innings have gone on to put up an unassailable lead off 528 runs in front of young South African Test Team in the Mount Maunganui Test. South Africa have bundled out for 162 runs in their first innings and NZ without imposing follow-on, has decided to bat SA out of the game and are currently on 179/4 in their second innings.
