IPL 2024: LSG ends their campaign with a win

LSG signs off with a big win against MI

LSG, Lucknow Super Giants, have been able to reach playoffs in IPL 2022, 2023. But in IPL 2024, they have ended their campaign without making playoffs. But they have been able to end it with a good win. In a way, they got their revenge against MI, Mumbai Indians, for their playoff loss against the same franchise in 2023. LSG won against MI by 18 runs despite good efforts of Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir.

Earlier, MI won the toss and elected to field first. LSG lost opener Devdutt Padikkal in the first over for a golden duck. Marcus Stoinis(28) created some momentum for the innings but got out at the end of Powerplay. Deepak Hooda(11) failed but Nicholas Pooran has set the ball rolling. He scored 75 runs from 29 balls setting platform for his team to score huge.

Pooran and Captain KL Rahul(55) have put on a 109-run partnership for the 4th wicket. At the score 178, LSG lost set KL Rahul, Pooran and Arshad Khan. Ayush Badoni(22) and Krunal Pandya(12) gave the required momentum to the innings. LSG has been able to score 214/6 in their 20 overs. Piyush Chawla(3/29) and Nuwan Thushara(3/28) took wickets for MI.

In the chase, MI got a great start from impact Sub Rohit Sharma and Dewald Brevis(23). The openers have put on 88 runs for first wicket in 8.4 overs. Rohit Sharma scored a handsome fifty and scored 68 runs from 38 balls. But MI lost Suryakumar Yadav(0), Sharma and Brewis for just 97. Ishan Kishan(14), Hardik Pandya(16), Nehal Wadhera(1) failed to build on the momentum given by openers.

Naman Dhir tried his best to take MI to winning shores. He scored 62 runs from 28 balls showcasing his skills. Till the final over, Dhir did not get any support from Ishan Kishan while he batted till final over. MI scored 196/6 from 20 overs and lost the match by 18 runs. Naveen-ul-Haq(2/50), Ravi Bishnoi(2/37) took wickets for LSG. Now, everyone is looking at CSK vs RCB, a literal eliminator before actual Playoffs.
