Premisthe, Boys have given Bharath fame in Telugu states as well as an actor. Mainly, people remember him as Premisthe Bharath and his films tend to get decent reception. From past few years, he has not been able to really find such reception for his movies. He has come up with an horror drama Miral in Tamil. After 2 years of its release, Miral has been released on 17th May, in Telugu. Let’s discuss about the movie in detail.

Plot:
Hari(Bharath) tries to help his wife Rama(Vani Bhojan) in recovering from her mental trauma. She is haunted by a dream, in which she keeps having a vision of a masked man killing her husband. Their 5-year old son is clueless about her condition and Hari tries to cheer her up in every possible way.

The family faces several bad omens and even Hari, narrowly escapes an accidental car crash at his construction site. So, he plans to conduct rituals to get rid of any evil spirits haunting them in his village. The supernatural occurrences increase while Hari’s father(K. S. Ravikumar) tries to make sense of everything. What happens next? Watch Miral to know more.

Analysis:
Miral is a very simple tale filled with horror cliches at every nook and corner. With a very minimalistic plotline, the makers tried hard to spook audiences. But the cliched approach undermines good performances of Bharath and Vani Bhojan as well.

Each and every scene increasingly irritate us as the sluggish narrative drags them to no end. Also, the plotline, scenes, characters and character design are so old school that we wish for some good scene between uninteresting scenes.

The screenplay is so tirelessly insipid progressively it gets on our nerves. Bharath tried hard to make it all look good while Vani Bhojan is also good. But the film gives a serial episodic feel and never grows over the mediocrity.

Makers almost feared that if they try anything innovative people might like it. Horror elements also are underwhelming and the tension never really catches on to the audiences. K.S. Ravikumar and Meera Krishnan, Rajkumar kind of actors are also underutilised in under written characters.

With a better script, good screenplay and well executed horror sequences, this movie could have been even better. Production values and music are also forgettable.

Interestingly, makers released the dubbed movie in theatres despite it being available on OTT platforms. Even this aspect also adds to the fatigue factor. On the whole, Miral movie could have been better with some innovation and novelty in the scenes and screenplay.

Positives:
Performances
Opening sequence

Negatives:
Insipid Writing
Sluggish Narrative
Incompetent VFX
Clueless Direction
