KKR bowlers have gone through a nightmare as PBKS chased down 260 score. Their IPL 2024 campaign seem to blow hot and cold due to such huge lapses. KKR needed a big win to showcase the strength of their bowling unit and batting unit at the same time. They did the same on a pitch that assisted their bowlers that was slightly slow in nature.
DC won the toss and elected to bat first. Prithvi Shaw(13) and Jake Fraser-McGurk(12) fell after an aggressive start fell for KKR opening bowlers. Shai Hope(6), Abishek Porel(18) also fell shortly. DC wanted their captain Rishabh Pant(27) and Axar Patel(15) to take them to big score. But both southpaws failed to score big time.
Varun Chakravarthy(3/16) took big wickets in the middle-order to restrict DC. Kuldeep Yadav scored 35 runs from 26 balls to take DC score past 150. DC scored 153/9 in 20 overs. Harshit Rana(2/28), Vaibhav Arora(2/29) also took important wickets and KKR bowlers big time as an unit. Still, Mitchell Starc’s form seems to be a concern for them and Australian team as well.
In the chase, Phil Salt looked in great hurry. He scored 68 runs from 33 balls to help KKR score 79 runs from just powerplay. Sunil Narine(15) couldn’t continue his batting form and fell post powerplay. Rinku Singh(11) got huge promotion but failed. Shreyas Iyer(33) and Venkatesh Iyer(26) finished the chase for KKR to win by 7 wickets. With this win, they held on to their second place with 12 points.
