India have finally announced their long awaited squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024. There have been many debates among experts, fans and ardent followers about the composition of the team as well. Selectors along with BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah met at a hotel to finalise the squad they would send to USA for this WC.
Selectors have gone with a mix of experience and recent form to select players. Rishabh Pant, who made a strong comeback in IPL 2024 after two years and Sanju Samson, who is in great form for RR, have been selected as first choice wicket keepers. Selectors dropped KL Rahul as he chose to open and not play in middle-order.
Selectors went for Yashasvi Jaiswal as back up opener as Virat Kohli is expected to open. They have gone for Shivam Dube looking at his hitting prowess rather than Rinku Singh. Well, most heartening moment is that Yuzvendra Chahal has been brought back into the team. This means India could go with famous KUL-CHA combination if conditions assist in New York.

Hardik Pandya got vice captaincy despite his recent injury and absence. They chose two all-rounders, two spinners and two full time pacers along with batters. After selecting the team, India has announced the squad by showcasing their names on Times Square and at important places in USA to announce arrival of Indian cricketers to world.
