South Africa and England have announced their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squads on the same day as India. While looking at their squads, we can say that both of them have gone with recency factor looking at the IPL 2024 form of their key players.
First of all, let’s look at the South Africa squad,
South Africa squad: Aiden Markram (c), Ottniel Baartman, Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock, Bjorn Fortuin, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, David Miller, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs.
Travelling reserves: Nandre Burger and Lungi Ngidi.
While Aiden Markram did well for his team in SA T20, he is struggling in IPL. But SA seems to have gone with him being captain while dropping their regular captain, Temba Bavuma. Also, IPL stars like Tristan Stubbs, Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj have been picked in the team. Let’s see how they will perform on the biggest stage.

England Selectors have gone with Buttler, Ali, Bairstow, Will Jacks, Sam Curran over their recent T20 experts. Jason Roy did not get a call into the team as well. Looks like their IPL form has played an important role in this selection.
Also, England has announced that their squad members will play against Pakistan in T20I series from 22nd May to 30th May. Hence, they won’t be playing in IPL 2024 playoffs. Well, with this decision KKR, RR who seem to be definite for playoffs will be absent for them.
