Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh – September 6, 2024: In a generous response to the recent flooding crisis in Andhra Pradesh, VIT University has made a significant donation to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Dr. G. Viswanathan, the Honorable Chancellor of VIT University, and Sri Sankar Viswanthan, the Vice-President of VIT University, presented a cheque for Rs. 1,57,50,000 (One Crore Fifty-Seven Lakhs Fifty Thousand) to support the flood relief efforts.
The presentation took place at the Vijayawada Collectorate Office, where the cheque was handed over to Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. This substantial contribution is aimed at aiding those affected by the devastating floods and providing much-needed relief to the region.
The donation is comprised of two parts. VIT University contributed Rs. 1.5 crore from its own resources, demonstrating the institution’s commitment to social responsibility and community support. Additionally, Rs. 7.5 lakhs was raised through voluntary contributions from VIT-AP University’s faculty, staff, research scholars, and students. This collective effort reflects the strong spirit of generosity and solidarity within the VIT University community.
Dr. G. Viswanathan expressed his concern for the flood victims and highlighted the importance of collective action in times of crisis. He emphasized that VIT University is dedicated to supporting relief and rehabilitation efforts to help the affected communities recover and rebuild.
