Actress Regina Cassandra has completed 20 years in the film industry, a rare achievement for a female actor. In a field where male stars often enjoy long careers, Regina has overcome tough competition to stay relevant for two decades.
Regina Cassandra began her journey as a model and entered films in 2005 with a Tamil movie. She made her Telugu debut in 2010 with SMS, alongside Sudheer Babu. With her very first film, Regina impressed audiences and soon became known for playing a variety of roles. Movies like Awe! and Evaru showed her talent for handling complex characters.
Speaking to the media on her 20-year milestone, Regina shared how challenging her career has been. She said that while she is proud of lasting this long, she’s still not at the top in some areas. Regina admitted that there were times she considered quitting acting, especially when she didn’t feel motivated to work. However, after completing her existing film commitments, she made a strong comeback in 2018.
She also revealed that she made a conscious decision to avoid doing similar types of roles. In her early days in Tollywood, she struggled with the Telugu language. Dialogue papers were given to her as early as 6 AM, and she found it hard to cope. She recalled spending hours memorising lines and learning the emotions behind them.
Regina also reflected on how much the industry has changed. When she started, she didn’t know the importance of PR or social media. But now, social media has become a major way for her to connect with audiences and promote her work.
Currently, Regina is working on Mookuthi Amman 2, directed by Sundar C, alongside Nayanthara.
Her journey is a reminder of the dedication and resilience required to survive in the film industry, especially as a woman.
