Bollywood is getting ready to retell one of India’s most iconic epics, Ramayana, with a new film that claims the story is not just a myth, but history. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the big-budget project stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as the powerful villain Ravana.
This upcoming film aims to present Ramayana not just as a religious or cultural story, but as something real — “Our Truth, Our History” is the tagline. The makers say the film will stay true to ancient scriptures while using modern cinematic tools to bring the story to life like never before.
A three-minute glimpse of the film was released recently, showing the main characters and offering a preview of the film’s rich visuals. Audiences were treated to dramatic scenes and powerful music, which set a serious tone. The video was shown in cities across India and even in Times Square, New York.
The production is on a huge scale, reportedly costing over ₹800 crore. Top-level VFX teams are involved, and the action scenes are choreographed by Guy Norris, known for Mad Max: Fury Road. Music legends A R Rahman and Hans Zimmer are composing the score.
The movie will be released in two parts, with the first expected around Diwali 2026. Catch the glimpse here.
Unlike recent adaptations that faced backlash for poor execution, this version is being praised for its respectful and detailed approach. With strong visuals, big stars, and a serious message, Ramayana hopes to change how people view the story — not just as legend, but as lived truth.
