As summer winds down, the film industry gears up for a busy season. Makers begin preparing for releases months in advance, with many films launching during the Dasara holidays. This year, five films will compete at the box office: four from Tamil cinema and one from Telugu. It remains to be seen which of these films will impress audiences and emerge as a hit.
The Dasara holidays commence in the first week of October, and actor Sree Vishnu aims to capitalize on this by releasing his film “Swag” on October 4. This marks Vishnu’s return to theaters following the success of “Samajavaragamana” and “Om Bhim Bush.” Directed by Hasith Goli, “Swag” is their second collaboration after “Raja Raja Chora.” The film explores the age-old struggle for gender dominance, featuring Vishnu in four distinct roles: Singa, Bhavabhuti, Yayati, and King Bhavabhuti. The promotional images have generated significant buzz, raising expectations. Will Vishnu achieve a hat-trick with this film?
Meanwhile, actors Gopichand and Sudheer Babu, both of whom have faced challenges with recent films, are set to test their luck during the Dasara season. Gopichand stars in “Viswam,” directed by Srinu Vaitla and produced by TG Vishwaprasad and Venu Donepudi. The film combines Gopichand’s action with Vaitla’s trademark humor. The teaser has already been released to capture audience interest, and the film will hit theaters on October 11.
On the same day, Sudheer Babu will premiere “Maa Nanna Superhero ” directed by Abhilash Reddy. This father-son love story has piqued interest with its teaser, leaving audiences eager to see if Sudheer can score a hit.
Actor Suhas, who has already made an impression this year with “Ambaji Peta Band” and “Prasanna Vadanam,” is set to entertain audiences once again with “Janaka Ayithe Ganaka ” on October 12. Produced by Dil Raju and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, this film promises a blend of strong emotions and engaging storytelling. Its teaser and songs have received a positive response, raising questions about whether Suhas will secure another hit.
In the midst of these releases, there are no major Telugu stars competing this Dasara, but Rajinikanth is poised to make waves with “Vettaiyan,” releasing on October 10. Directed by TJ Gnanavel of “Jai Bhim” fame, this film is Rajini’s second project after the success of “Jailor.” With Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, and Fahadh Faasil in key roles, expectations are high. The recently released song “Manasilayo” has further fueled anticipation. Audiences are eager to see if Rajinikanth will deliver another blockbuster, as he takes on the role of a powerful police officer based on real events.
