Rohit: India Will Approach Bangladesh Like Any Other Team

Bangladesh recently achieved a remarkable victory over Pakistan in their own backyard during the Test series, and now they are confident about facing India with the same intensity. However, they do not dwell on their opponents or create special strategies for them. Indian captain Rohit Sharma emphasized this mindset as he spoke to the media on the eve of the first Test match.

Rohit stated, “Every team wants to beat India. It’s an honor for them. Let them try. We will focus on how to win.” He noted that India has faced all the top teams globally, so there’s no need for unique plans against Bangladesh. With two new players joining the squad, Rohit highlighted the importance of concentrating on their integration and moving forward with the team’s established strategies.

He also acknowledged the differences in coaching styles among the support staff, which includes Rahul Dravid, Vikram Rathour, and Paras Mhambrey. “While they each have their unique approaches, the understanding of the game is strong,” Rohit remarked. His experience working with coaches over his 17-year career has made him adaptable, and he expressed confidence in building good coordination with the new team members.

Rohit underscored the challenge of ensuring that the best players participate in every match, citing the increased workload from a packed schedule that includes numerous T20 games. “Bowlers need to be managed carefully, and we have to rotate them,” he explained. He referenced the decision to rest star bowler Jasprit Bumrah during the series against England, which ultimately proved beneficial as it allowed emerging bowlers to showcase their talent.

The captain also spoke highly of KL Rahul, recognizing his potential and desire to play every game. Rahul had notable performances, including a century in South Africa and an impressive 80 runs in the first Test against England. Rohit is optimistic about Rahul’s ability to excel in both spin and pace formats.

He also mentioned young talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, and Prabhsimran Singh, who have seized their opportunities and are eager to make their mark on the team. Rohit emphasized the importance of balancing aggression with caution, a quality he believes the young players possess. With a cohesive team spirit and a focus on performance, India is ready to take on the challenges ahead.
