⦁ Overview:

The VIT-AP School of Social Sciences and Humanities (VISH) is dedicated to achieving excellence through an interdisciplinary approach, drawing insights from a rich array of disciplines like English Language Teaching, English Literature, Cultural Studies, Film Studies, Linguistics, and foreign languages such as Spanish, French, German, and Korean, alongside Indian languages like Hindi. Furthermore, the School explores Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, History, Economics, Geography, and Political Science. This expansive blend of knowledge and ideas empowers researchers to tackle both theoretical concepts and real-world challenges, fostering innovative solutions and deeper insights into complex issues.

VISH encourages faculty members to collaborate research with foreign universities and present their findings on international platforms through conferences and seminars. To exchange ideas and continue the dialogue on issues like COVID-19, climate change, impacts of the travel and tourism industry on the environment, VISH has organized several international conferences, workshops, and seminars.  VIT-AP University provides state-of-the-art facilities including libraries, research labs, digital resources, and access to academic journals and databases relevant to social sciences and humanities. Additionally, there are opportunities for funding, grants, and collaborations with other research institutions.

The faculty members of VISH have widely published in renowned international and national journals which are listed in Scopus, Web of Science, and UGC-CARE. Faculty have also contributed several book chapters with reputed publishers namely Transcript Verlag, ABC-Clio, Springer, De Gruyter, Routledge, and Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Several faculty have successfully secured intramural and extramural funding for a diverse array of topics. Faculty are encouraged to apply for VIT-AP University sponsored (RGEMS) grants for initiating research with anticipated research output sequel to sponsored extramural projects.

⦁ Procedure for Admission

Indian students:
Master’s degree in the relevant discipline of Social sciences and Languages with a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-pointscale is mandatory.

Foreign Nationals Guidelines:
Candidates of foreign nationality who hold degrees from Indian Universities seeking admission to research programmes with the necessary clearance from the Government of India (The Ministry of Human Resource Development) (further details are available on the university website)

NRI Guidelines:
Indian nationals having degrees from Indian universities and whose parents work outside India may apply as NRI candidates.
