The occasion marked the introduction of the prestigious “STAR Celebrity Award 2024,” designed to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of individuals post-kidney transplant.
The event, held at Star Hospitals, Financial District brought together post-kidney transplant recipients and donors for an awareness drive aimed at inspiring others through their stories of triumph over adversity.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the inaugural STAR Celebrity Award recipients, comprising four remarkable individuals who have defied odds and continued to excel in their respective fields following their kidney transplants.
Shri Varala Anand, a renowned Kendra Sahitya Academy Award Winner, Poet, Writer, short film & documentary maker, was among the distinguished recipients, showcasing extraordinary resilience and determination in his creative pursuits. Mrs. Gazala, a post-transplant recipient, exemplified the strength of motherhood, conceiving and raising three children after her transplant. Mrs. Vijayalakshmi, a nurse who faced immense challenges during her battle with kidney failure, now holds a government job following her successful transplant. Mr. Nalini Kumar, who endured 14 years of dialysis, received a new lease on life through a recent kidney transplant.
