NSA Ajit Doval Meets UAE President to Strengthen Strategic Ties Amid West Asia Tensions

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval visited UAE amid ongoing tensions in West Asia. As part of the visit, he met with the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Energy security, strategic partnership and strengthening cooperation on regional stability were discussed on the occasion.

Recently, Ajit Doval also visited Saudi Arabia. A week after that visit, a meeting with the President of UAE in Abu Dhabi became a priority. It seems that Ajit Doval is going to this tour in the background of tensions in Middle East. The Strait of Hormuz has been closed for the past two months. This caused a disruption in the supply of fuel. Only 10 ships crossed Hormuz. Ajit Doval’s visit seems to be part of the future plan.

He (Ajit Doval) met President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated. Steps to further strengthen strategic partnership. Regional situation. Other matters of mutual interest were discussed,” the Indian Embassy said in a social media post.

In the last two months, Prime Minister Modi has spoken to the leaders of UAE, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries almost twice. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar is also in constant touch with his colleagues in these countries. During his visit to both countries earlier this month, S. Jaishankar met the President of UAE. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said that despite the critical regional environment, the ongoing talks between the two countries are robust and transparent, and the strength of the India-UAE strategic partnership. As Ajit Doval is currently working to coordinate with the Emirates government on security and strategic issues, his visit seems to be an important diplomatic initiative.
