LSG vs KKR: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)’s abysmal performance in IPL 2026 continues. In a thrilling match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), LSG battled till the super over and eventually lost. With this defeat, the Lucknow team registered their fifth defeat in a row and fell to the bottom position in the points table. Batting first in this match, KKR was in dire straits with 93/7 at one stage. Rinku Singh who was at the crease at that time played a wonderful innings and supported the team. He scored 83 runs in just 51 balls and remained notout. His innings had 7 fours and 5 sixes. KKR scored 155/7 in the allotted 20 overs thanks to Rinku singh
LSG’s batting also came under pressure in the pursuit of the target. Losing wickets took the match to the end. The match went to super over with Mohammed Shami hitting a six off the last ball. But there LSG completely collapsed. And in the Super Over, the Lucknow team lost one wicket and scored only 2 runs. It was one of the lowest super over scores in IPL history. Later, KKR reached the target easily and took the win.
After completion of the entire match, LSG captain Rishabh Pant expressed his concern about the condition of the team. “We need a break. There is pressure in every match. We have to find solutions within ourselves instead of looking for external reasons. Every player has to take responsibility. It’s not a one man game,” he commented. Pant also defended the decision to send off Nicholas Pooran in the super over. “Even though he is not in form right now, we have to believe in our players in difficult times,” he said.
On the other hand, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane called Rinku Singh’s innings as the turning point of the match. “The way we played after 16 overs, especially Rinku’s innings changed the course of the match. We knew that even one wicket can turn the game around,” he said. He also praised bowlers Sunil Narine, Karthik Tyagi and Vaibhav Arora for bowling brilliantly. Match hero Rinku Singh said, “When I came in to bat, four wickets had already fallen. I wanted to stand till the end and send the loose balls to the boundary.” Rinku Singh, who took 83 runs and four catches in this match, became the real hero by hitting the winning shot in the super over. On the other hand, LSG disappointed the fans with worst record.
