Stock Markets continued registering gains on 21st August. Investors did not show much enthusiasm in trading during the opening hours. Indices started flat and looked like a long day for traders with minimal moment. But towards the end, few FMCG stocks attracted good interest and markets ended another session with gains.
Going into the details, global cues did not really effect the trading pattern in this session. BSE started off lower than previous closing but never really fluctuated to huge highs and record lows. NSE on the other hand ended 5th consecutive session in gains. On the whole, Big indices of Stock Markets, BSE gained 102.44 points to close at 80,905.30 and Nifty50 gained 71.35 points to close at 24,770.20 mark.
In this session of Stock Markets, BSE Sensex started trading lower than the previous closing at 80,667.25 and then continued to trade between 80,626.38 – 80,952.83. On the other hand, Nifty Sensex started trading slightly lower than the previous closing too, at 24,680.55 mark and it hit its highest for the day at 24,787.95. While Nifty50 hit the lowest at 24,654.50.
Indian Rupee traded at Rs.83.91 against USD on 21st August 2024. Titan Company, Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever, Nestle India, ITC ended as Top Gainers in Sensex. Divis Laboratories, Titan Company, SBI Life Insurance Company, Cipla, HDFC Life Insurance Company ended as Top Gainers in Nifty50.
On the other hand in top indices of Stock Markets; Ultratech Cement, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, Power Grid Corporation of India, HDFC Bank stocks ended as Top Losers in Sensex. While Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, Ultratech Cement, Power Grid Corporation of India, HDFC Bank ended as Top Losers in Nifty50.
