Yashasvi Jaiswal has been in great batting form against England in the ongoing Test Series. He scored a double hundred in Vizag Test. He scored 209 runs in the first innings and that lead to India winning the Test. In the Rajkot Test, he once again came good in the second innings. He has scored a century and then retired due to back injury.
On the fourth day, Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav continued to score against England bowlers in the morning session. Gill took on the bowlers and continued to score at brisk pace. He got run out going for a single on 91 and lost a chance to score back-to-back second innings centuries. Jaiswal continued his innings after India lost Gill’s wicket.
Jaiswal continued to score freely and Kuldeep Yadav(27) got out to Rehan Ahmed. Sarfaraz Khan again continued to score aggressively against England spinners. Both the youngsters kept scoring so freely that English bowlers could not control the scoring rate at all. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 214 runs and Khan scored 68 runs from 72 balls. Jaiswal and Khan did not allow spinners to get their length right.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has also created record for Most Sixes hit in an innings and series for India. He has equalled Wasim Akram’s record most sixes, 12, in an innings. He crossed Rohit Sharma’s most sixes in a series, 19 with 22 in this series, already. He has become third youngest batter to score two consecutive double hundreds. He has also become first Indian batter to convert his first three Test hundreds to innings above 150.
India has broke their record for most sixes hit by a team with 28 against England in Rajkot Test. India has already crossed most sixes hit by a team in a Test series record by hitting 48 sixes. Previous best is their record 47 against South Africa in 2019.
India with the help of Jaiswal – Khan 172-run partnership, scored 430/4 runs in 98 overs. In total, India has accumulated a lead of 556 runs. Tom Hartley(1/78), Joe Root(1/111) and Rehan Ahmed(1/108) took wickets for England. This has become India’s second biggest target set to chase for any team behind their massive 617 against New Zealand in Wellington, 2009.
