WPL 2024: RCB Women enter finals beating MI Women

Ellyse Perry showcased her all-round abilities in RCB win

RCB Women has entered eliminator in WPL 2024, against MI Women and they have pulled a win from under the feet of MI Women. It almost looked like a heist as Mumbai Indians Women have looked like cruising through with just 20 runs needed from the last 3 overs. RCB Women have won by restricting strong hitters of MI women by 5 runs in the last over thriller.

Earlier, RCB Women has won the toss and elected to bat first. Smriti Mandhana(10) and Sophie Devine(10) fell in consecutive delivers. Legend and senior cricketer Ellyse Perry took the burden on her able shoulders. Disha Kasat(0), Richa Ghosh(14) did not find much assistance from the pitch and bowlers controlled them.

Ellyse Perry after struggling first, took on bowlers and scored 66 runs from 50 balls. Georgia Wareham(18) helped RCB Women to score 135/6 in 20 overs. Hayley Matthews(2/18), Nat Sciver-Brunt(2/18) and Saika Ishaque(2/27) took wickets for MI. It looked like an easy chase for Mumbai Indians Women.

Hayley Matthews(15), Nat Sciver-Brunt(23) took on bowlers but Yastika Bhatia scored 19 from 27 balls. Perry ended her struggle. From 68/3, Harmanpreet Kaur(33) and Amelia Kerr(27) have put on 52 runs partnership. When they looked like winning it easy, MI lost Kaur and Pooja Vastrakar, Sajeevan Sajana wickets in final overs.

Asha Sobhana(1/13) and Shreyanka Patil(2/16) bowled the last overs and kept their cool under immense pressure. Ellyse Perry has showcased her all-round skills with a match-winning 66 runs with the bat and 1/29 with the ball. She has won the Player of the Match award.
