Australia decimated Namibia in their Group B match in T20 World Cup 2024. They have confirmed their qualification to Super 8 with 3 big wins along with South Africa from Group D. Australia won the match by 9 wickets with 86 balls remaining. With such a big win they made a statement before entering Super 8.
Going into the details, Australia won the toss and elected to field first. Namibia found it difficult to score against world class bowlers. Except Gerhard Erasmus no one could really score more than 10 runs. Erasmus scored 36 runs from 43 balls and hence, Namibia could score 72 runs from 17 overs.
Otherwise, they could have been bowled out under 50 or even lower score. Among Australia bowlers, Adam Zampa bowled brilliantly and took 4 wickets for 12 runs. Marcus Stoinis(2/9), Josh Hazlewood(2/18), Nathan Ellis(1/12), Pat Cummins(1/16) took wickets.
In the chase, David Warner and Travis Head took on inexperienced Namibian bowlers. David Warner scored 20 runs from 8 balls and Mitchell Marsh scored 18 runs from 9 balls. On the other hand, Travis Head scored 34 runs from 17 balls. Australia scored 74/1 runs from 5.4 overs. This is the biggest win for any regular team in this World Cup.
