South Africa Women defeat Aus Women for the first time in ODIs

South Africa Women shocked world champions Australia Women in the second ODI at North Sydney. For the first time, they defeated Aus in ODIs. Australia Women have decided to use the early advantage of helpful bowling conditions and elected to field first. They took first wicket in the very first over. They made it difficult for batters to score freely.

Anneke Bosch(44) and Marizanne Kapp(75) have been critical in the fight back of SA against Aus bowlers. Towards the end of the innings, Chloe Tryon scored 37 off 36 balls and South Africa Women scored 229/6 in 45 overs. As rain interuppted the play, Australia have been asked to score 234 runs from 45 overs to win by DLS method.

Marizanne Kapp after excelling with bat did huge damage with ball. She sent back captain Alyssa Healy(4), Beth Mooney(0), Phoebe Litchfield(14) in her first spell. In 5 overs, she took 3 wickets for just 12 runs. Australia Women have been found pegged back by this and could not recover throughout the innings.

Tahlia McGrath(22), Ashleigh Gardner(35) and Kim Garth(42) only could manage a slim fightback. Australia Women have been bowled out for 149 runs in 29.3 overs. Nadine de Klerk(2/26), Eliz-mari Marx(2/22), Ayanda Hlubi(2/41) and Chloe Tryon(1/14) took wickets after Kapp opening burst to seize the win. South Africa Women won the match by 84 runs and Marizanne Kapp won the Player of the Match.
