WPL 2024 has already been quite different to RCB-W from 2023. Smriti Mandhana, the Indian star opener, is in great form for the franchise. She has been able to marshal her troupes in a quite exemplary manner. They have won against UP Warriors Women in a thumping manner and now, they have decimated Gujarat Giants Women, GG-W in their next fixture.
Royal Challengers Bangalore, RCB-W have won the toss and elected to field first. Renuka Singh has given a great start to the team with 2 quick wickets. She dismissed in-form Beth Mooney(8) and Phoebe Litchfield(5) while keeping them quite and frustrating them to no death. These two wickets never allowed GG-W to recover and they scored only 107/7 in their 20 overs.
Dayalan Hemalatha(31), Harleen Deol(22) managed some decent scores. Sophie Molineux took 3/25 and did not allow GG-W any momentum in middle overs. In the chase, RCB-W lost star batter Sophie Devine(6) early. But Smriti Mandhana kept going with her great flow and scored 43 runs from 27 balls setting game in their favor.
Sabbhineni Meghana(36) and veteran Ellyse Perry(23) saw them to the winning shores with 45 balls and 8 wickets remaining. RCB-W scored 110/2 from 12.3 overs.
