Rohit Sharma’s wife doesn’t like Mark Boucher’s explanation for sacking him as MI captain

Mark Boucher MI head coach explains captaincy change as cricketing decision

Rohit Sharma has been sacked as Mumbai Indians captain for IPL 2024 season. Hardik Pandya has been replaced as captain of MI and he has moved from Gujarat Titans for Rs.15 crore. MI has sold Cameron Green for Rs.17.5 crores to RCB and welcomed Hardik Pandya back to MI squad. But Rohit Sharma fans have been critical about this decision.

They have trolled, abused MI management for replacing their long term and most successful captain of 10 years and 5 IPL trophy winner unceremoniously. Mark Boucher, head coach of MI, has been on a podcast and explained the decision. He stated that the decision is a cricketing one and not an emotional one.

He asked fans to see the decision from cricketing eye but not from an emotional POV. He opined that Rohit Sharma is burdened by National captaincy and indirectly stated that he is distracted while handling MI captaincy as IPL asks for more than just on-field performance but off the field brand building, too from a captain. He hoped that this decision will free Rohit to bat like he does and enjoy IPL without any burden.

He stated that Rohit Sharma being National Captain of Indian Team and captaining MI as well has been effecting his performance in IPL. He hoped that in 2024, it doesn’t. Ritika Sajdeh, Rohit Sharma’s wife reacted to this podcast video, stating, “So many things wrong with this…” She seemed upset by the explanation and decision in the first place.

Will Rohit also share similar opinion on his unceremonious sacking? Definitely, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah appeared to have issues with this decision. Let’s wait for Rohit’s reply on all this.
