RCB has started off their campaign with huge losses in IPL 2024. The team’s star batter Virat Kohli has performed at his best to thrust them to a big win against PBKS. This is RCB’s 4th consecutive win and also won with a big margin to keep themselves alive in the competition. PBKS have joined MI, in the list of eliminated teams from this season.
Earlier, PBKS have won the toss and elected to field first. RCB lost Faf du Plessis(9) and Will Jacks(12), early. Virat Kohli kept playing at one end while Rajat Patidar batted aggressively and scored 55 runs from 23 balls. Cameron Green also came good and scored 46 runs from 27 balls. But Kohli missed out on a century after being dropped many times. He got out after scoring 92 runs from 47 balls.
Dinesh Karthik also scored 18 runs from 7 balls to add to the score. RCB have scored 241/7 from 20 overs. Harshal Patel(3/38), Vidwath Kaverappa(2/36) have taken wickets for PBKS. Harshal Patel has won Purple cap by beating Jasprit Bumrah, in this season. In the chase, Jonny Bairstow(27) and Rilee Rossouw(61) gave huge boost to PBKS innings in first 9 overs.
PBKS scored 107/3 in just 9 overs and looked like chasing another 200 plus score like they did against KKR. But Jitesh Sharma(5), Liam Livingstone(0) failed to give any kind of propelling stand to the innings. Virat Kohli dismissed Shashank Singh(37) in a cheetah style run out. This further dismantled PBKS batting and Sam Curran(22) could not do much post that.
PBKS scored only 181 in 17 overs and RCB won the match by 60 runs. Mohammed Siraj(3/43), Lockie Ferguson(2/29), Karn Sharma(2/36), Swapnil Singh(2/28) took wickets for RCB. Well, with this win they have given themselves a chance to qualify if 14 points would be enough. CSK vs GT match on 10th May, would be a big one for them.
