IPL 2024 to be conducted in India only

IPL 2024 is expected to start in March and fans are waiting for BCCI and IPL governing council to announce the schedule. Several news reports state that BCCI has decided to conduct IPL 2024 in India, only. Has this year there are Parliament elections scheduled, many thought the IPL would be conducted in UAE or South Africa.

Earlier, in 2009, IPL has been conducted in South Africa and in 2014, in UAE during elections. In 2019, despite elections, IPL has been conducted in India. Now, the BCCI has decided to conduct IPL 2024 in India, say reports. They will start the tournament on 22nd March and conduct in two legs.

First leg will be conducted for two weeks and then, the second leg will resume post elections. BCCI doesn’t want to conduct IPL in a different nation just because elections are up. The matches will not be conducted during polling days and also during the result day.

Let’s wait for the final schedule to be released by BCCI. For now, the first match will happen in Chennai, as CSK won the tournament in 2023. Chennai Super Kings, CSK and Gujarat Titans, GT will play the first one in Chennai. Sources state that the complete schedule will be announced by BCCI in the upcoming week.
