RR has been believing in Riyan Parag from past few seasons. He did not perform to their expectations but they never lost trust in him for many reasons. He came into IPL 2024 with many questions about his capabilities and he worked hard to come good. Riyan Parag has worked hard and showcased great form in the recently concluded Ranji season.
Now, he is showcasing his talent in IPL on the big stage. He played well in the first match for RR along with captain Sanju Samson. But in this match, when Delhi Capitals bowlers could tighten screws of in form Yashasvi Jaiswal and veteran Jos Buttler, he came good. He scored a stunning 84 from 45 balls to give a par score to RR to defend.
Ravichandran Ashwin also did hit sixes and made the match an interesting contest between the two. In the chase though, DC got a big start with David Warner scoring 49 from 34 balls and Mitchell Marsh scoring 23 runs off 12 balls. Rishabh Pant scored only 28 runs from 26 balls and Tristan Stubbs with 44 tried his best in the final overs.
RR scored 185/5 in 20 overs and with a target of 186, DC managed only 173/5. Rishabh Pant needs some more time to get back into his hitting groove. This match proved the same. But Riyan Parag showcased his skills and talent like he never did in his career till date. If he continues to do so, he would be able to reverse his situation just like Shivam Dube with 2023 IPL season.
