Rajasthan Royals, RR have won all their starting 4 games in this season, IPL 2024 and looked invincible. But Gujarat Titans, GT have managed to topple them for the final ball in a thrilling chase. Rashid Khan showcased his all-round skills in the match and his batting prowess came handy for GT. He managed to score boundary on the final ball to register a big victory.
Earlier, GT won the toss and elected to field first. RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler failed to give a good start. Once again, Sanju Samson(68) and Riyan Parag(76) came together to save RR’s innings. They have put on 130 runs for the third wicket to give their team a huge chance. Shimron Hetmyer(13) gave good finish to the innings and RR scored 196/3 in 20 overs.
In the chase, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan(35) started slow putting an opening partnership of 64 in 8 overs. They lost Matthew Wade(4), Abhinav Manohar(1) and Vijay Shankar(16) quickly in pursuit of quick runs. They needed more than 60 runs from last 5 overs to win and lost set Shubman Gill(72).
At this point, when the chase looked tough, Rahul Tewatia(22 of 11) gave necessary momentum to the death overs and Rashid Khan(24 of 11) finished off with a huge boundary on the last ball. GT scored 199/7 and GT won by 3 wickets. Rashid Khan has won Player of the Match and Shubman Gill showcased confidence in their approach in chasing the target.
