Mumbai Indians, MI started off by losing their starting matches once again in IPL 2024. But they have won back to back matches to keep themselves in the contention. On the batting pitch at Wankhede, they have bowled to their plans and Jasprit Bumrah, mainly, restricted RCB with 5 wickets. He took back-to-back wickets twice in the match stopping RCB’s momentum at key stages.

MI won the toss and elected to field first. Bumrah gave a big shock to RCB by dismissing in form Virat Kohli, early. Even Will Jacks(8) failed to score for the team. Faf du Plessis took his time due to his bad form but found his touch as the innings progressed. He scored 61 runs of 40 balls and Rajat Patidar also came good in this match. He scored 50 of 26 balls pushing RCB score beyond 100 in 11 overs.

Glenn Maxwell once again failed and got duck out. At this juncture, Dinesh Karthik started scoring quickly, supporting Faf. When the innings looked like taking off, Bumrah struck again dismissing Faf and Mahipal Lomror(0) in back-to-back balls. Later, he again dismissed Saurav Chauhan(9) and Vijaykumar Vyshak(0) in back-to-back balls. He took 5 wickets and missed hattrick chance twice.

Dinesh Karthik scored 53 runs off 23 balls and gave a big finish to RCB. Still, they fell short by 20-30 runs. RCB scored 196/8 in 20 overs. Jasprit Bumrah(5/21) showcased his exceptional skills on a batting pitch to restrict RCB batters. In the chase, Ishan Kishan came into form and took on RCB bowlers. He scored 69 runs of 34 balls and put on 101 runs for first wicket in 8.5 overs.

Rohit Sharma scored 38 runs of 24 balls, rotating strike giving support to Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav. Mainly, Suryakumar Yadav scored 52 runs of 19 balls and showcased his class after recovering from injury. Hardik Pandya finished the chase early by scoring 21 runs of 6 balls and Tilak Varma(16) gave him good support.

Because of such a big show by MI batters, they won the match by scoring 199/3 in 15.3 overs with 7 wickets and 27 balls remaining. No bowler of RCB could really restrict on the batting pitch like Jasprit Bumrah. The current best bowler won Player of the match for his outstanding skills when every bowler failed.
