DC have been struggling to register a victory in IPL 2024. When they had to face CSK, many thought they will lose once again to them. Rishabh Pant have finally came good in this match and he took DC score to higher than 190 with his heroics. Despite good bowling of CSK bowlers in the death overs, he scored freely. And this helped DC bowlers to put pressure on CSK batters.
Earlier, DC have won the toss and elected to bat first. Prithvi Shaw(43) and David Warner(52) took on CSK bowlers and scored 93 runs in just 9.3 overs. This big start gave time to Rishabh Pant for setting up his innings. He took on good death bowlers of CSK in the final overs. And he scored his first fifty after coming back to play cricket post his freak accident.
He showcased his revered hitting skills and took score above 175. DC scored 191/5 in 20 overs. Matheesha Pathirana(3/31) took a great catch almost flying in air and bowled to unplayable fast yorkers as well against Mitchell Marsh and Tristan Stubbs. CSK needed a big start like they got in the past two matches. Khaleel Ahmed(2/21) made it difficult for CSK batters in the first overs.
Rachin Ravindra scored just 2 runs from 12 balls. Due to his struggle, CSK lost momentum in the first powerplay overs. Ajinkya Rahane(45) and Daryl Mitchell(34) have put up a good partnership but they could not give enough momentum for others. Shivam Dube(18) also failed to find his form in this match.
Even Ravindra Jadeja(21) failed to find any hitting form. MS Dhoni in the final overs gave a treat to his fans and cricket lovers. He reversed the time and scored 37 runs from just 16 balls. He has been able to hit 4 boundaries and 3 sixes. Despite the loss, his innings made the match for his fans. CSK scored only 171/6 and DC won by 20 runs.
