GT, Gujarat Titans, have had a very forgettable campaign in IPL 2024 after winning trophy in 2022 and reaching finals in 2023. They lost their captain, Hardik Pandya in exchange and that effected their team balance big time. Hence, they have been eliminated with one match still to be played from the competition.
While they started well, their star bowler Rashid Khan did not look in great form. Also, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan did not find consistency. While Sai Sudharsan did score over 500 runs in the competition, he struggled with his strike rate in many matches. GT had to play KKR at their home, Ahmedabad for one last time in league stage but they could not.
As the recent massive heatwave created a storm in Arabian Sea, it resulted in huge dust storm and heavy rainfall in Mumbai. Even Ahmedabad got effected due to the storm and match had to be abandoned. While both the teams tried to see if a 5-over match is possible, the rain continued till 10:15 PM and umpires have decided that they cannot allow any play.
GT will face SRH in Hyderabad next and they would look to win the match for pride. On the other hand, KKR has moved to 19 points strengthening their position at Top. RR can only go up to 20 points, if they win their next two matches. But KKR can go up to 21, if they win their last one. This result has made RCB, LSG breathe easy for the moment.
