India Under-19 teams have been sensational in Under-19 CWCs over the years. Ever since the inception, India had been a dominating winner of these tournaments. Once again, another Indian Under-19 team has entered Finals after winning against South Africa in a closely fought Semi-Final at Benoni, South Africa.
South Africa is hosting this edition of U-19 CWC and they wanted to win at home. India has dominated Super Sixes Group 1 and with 8 points finished on the top position. They entered Semi-Finals along with Pakistan, Australia and South Africa. In the first Semi-Final, they met South Africa on 6th February. India won the toss and elected to field first.
Lhuan-dre Pretorius(76) gave a good start to South African innings and Richard Seletswane(64) gave base to the tail enders to whack in the final overs. Tristan Luus played a cameo with 23 from 12 balls and pushed SA U-19 score to 244/7 in 50 overs. Raj Limbani(3/60), Musheer Khan(2/43) took major number of wickets for India.
In the chase, India had a bad start and lost 4 wickets for 32. Captain Uday Saharan(81) and Sachin Dhas(96) have put on 171 runs partnership for India to recover and challenge the total. Both missed their centuries but India U-19 chased down the score with 2 wickets remaining. They scored 248/8 in 48.5 overs. India managed to enter finals from a losing position. Uday Saharan won Player of the Match for his innings. India U-19 will play final at the same ground on 11th February.
