Glenn Maxwell, the “Big Show” of present International Cricket, has decided to take an indefinite break from IPL 2024. The highly aggressive batter from Australia has made a name for himself as “Big Show” because of his ability to hit big shots at will. His ability to hit all around the ground with his 360 degree shots and innovative angles he made huge name for himself.
In IPL, he has been a big part of K.G.F trio – Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis from past few seasons. RCB still found themselves at doldrums unable to win the tournament despite them putting their best efforts. Maxwell with his all-round abilities with bat, ball and on field as a stunning fielder made a place for himself in the hearts of RCB fans.
But in IPL 2024, his performances with bat have not been at the same level that management and fans anticipate from him. He played 6 matches and scored only 32 runs in them. He took rest from match against SRH in Hyderabad and his absence did show in their chase. He requested RCB management to find a replacement for him for the rest of the season, at this moment.
Glenn Maxwell talking about his decision in press conference stated that he is physically and mentally stressed out. Hence, he took this decision to take a break from IPL. He stated that he will return whenever RCB needs him even in this season but for now, he needs a break. He stated that he will return stronger and better to International and IPL cricket.
Well, CWC T20I is coming up in June and Australia has huge hopes from him as all-rounder and middle-order aggressive finisher, his decision makes sense. RCB has lost 6 matches out of 7, they have played in this season. And looking at their bowling attack, their qualification chances are slim, too. Let’s hope Maxwell sparkles big time in CWC T20I and this IPL season, if he returns back.
