David Warner also announces retirement from ODIs

David Warner keeps a door slightly open for return in Champions Trophy 2025

Australia legendary opener, David Warner has announced his retirement from Tests after ongoing Pakistan series. Before the final Test at Sydney, he announced that he is retiring from ODIs as well. He played at his best in CWC 2023, helping Australia win the World Cup. On the final day, he fielded like he wanted the cup by his side while he failed with the bat.

But in the tournament, he became the key for Australia in the initial matches to be able to score big. He made T20Is and ODIs space his own when he bursted out on to the International scene. Later, he changed his aggressive game to fit himself in the Test mould as well. He proved to be a good captain in IPL and he won tournament for Sun Risers Hyderabad in 2016.

His stats in ODIs are good with 6,932 runs in 159 innings. In Tests, he has been more exceptional with 8,695 runs in 203 innings from 111 matches. David Warner has a huge impact as an opener with his aggressive approach Internationally. He carried forward the fearless style of play that Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden mastered for Australia as openers in ODIs.

After Sanath Jayasuriya, David Warner can be stated as another opener that every bowler feared to bowl at Internationally. His gritty innings against not so helpful conditions have been exemplary too.

After sandpaper scandal, he came back better as a player and stronger too. Now, he just kept door slightly open for his ODI return for 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, if needed and he is playing well. He will play around the world in T20 leagues and he will be available for T20I CWC and T20Is for Australian selection.
