The prices of LPG cylinders have increased significantly across the country. A decision has been taken to increase the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by Rs.993. This hike will be effective from May 1, 2026. With this hike, the price of commercial LPG cylinders in other cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad has now crossed Rs 3,000. With the increase in commercial cylinder prices, the news that the prices of petrol and diesel will also increase is making checkers on social media. But the center has already given clarity on this issue. The central government has responded to the news circulating on social media that the prices of petrol and diesel have increased drastically. A liter of petrol Rs. 10, on diesel Rs. The government has completely rejected the news that the oil department has issued an order increasing the price by 12.50. To this extent, the fact-check department of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has clarified and concluded that the viral order is just a ‘fake news’.

The government has clarified that no such order has been issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the document circulating online is fake. As this false news spread wildly on social media, there was concern among the common people. In this context, the authorities requested that no one should believe such untruths. The government has reiterated that any decision taken by the government regarding fuel prices will be disclosed only through official channels. PBI advised citizens to double-check on official websites before sharing information and not forward unverified posts that may cause unnecessary panic. The government appealed to the public to report suspicious posts and stop false propaganda.
